Hustle & Bustle

Well, works been lagging from the past few days. I haven't been able to do anything to be honest. And can't see work being done for the next few days either, maybe next two weeks.
Or I shouldn't let that be and get down to work tomorrow. Get the UI up and sunning so that I could get started on it all rather than just lag behind!
Yeah tomorrow I will get the UI back up and running in full speed. Yes.

Well I have taken the Alexandre works also, and I think that is good! Its good stuff. Really! And I think I should get started on it. Its downloading all well and good and that is a good sign. I don't know how Alexandre's game will turn out, but I hope he gets on with it.

I got an idea for a game, a mountaineering game. Chilly winds blowing. Create your own story type. Dead bodies. Alone. All exciting stuff! Really, it could be all amazing. And I think I should start sketching out its details and start working in it.

Dragonwall

So a lot happened over the past post to be honest. I applied for post in 10 companies and many of them did respond and it is great. There is one project which is 4 months in and I am excited about that to be honest! I want to be as involved as possible and will work as much as possible.

Now I face few dilemmas to be honest.  I have multiple things stacked in front of me now. Should I now work on the AI system, or develop my game and learn, or migrate to C++ coding. I don't mind C++ coding to be very honest, but a lot of tutorials are in blueprint so I just incline towards it more than the other.

So now lets really think about what I should do. I love AI to be honest. So yes, I think I will start learning all of the AI components in blueprints learning from the AI videos I have, that could be great to be honest! Yes, so first that. Then I will start migrating into C++ of the things, slowly slowly. Rather I should mix and match, C++ with blueprints. The things I don't understand could be in blueprints and then if I could, convert them into C++. Yeah, so done.

Then lets see how does that project go, then if it doesn't manage to take off, then I could start to do things on my own. But the basic point of all the things is not to stop and keep working on them.

And I should also not stop web development, it could be the thing that could earn me my bread, so lets not leave that and keep on working on it. Everyday. But I guess till these vacations last I can sprint on my Game Dev so I could get on my foot.

So next thing I am gonna start, Artificial Intelligence!

First Dive: Day 1

So today I sat down and set up my level for the First Dive. Now I am in a state where I can't decide should I go with the project first or do power game and then horror? Just kind of puzzled. But whatever happens I am going great. I think I'll start with power and horror game and then get with my game. But I'll keep on building the level to be honest. It was really exciting, tiring and new. So I will do it along with learning new things. There are some things I really feel I should do. Not in any particular order, but the list is

  • Material Editor
  • Foilage
  • Level Design
  • Setting up the game
  • Lighting
I think I have to do everything, so making a list won't suffice it. I have to start and get level up. I have to be everything right now. Everything. So I have to do everything and keep doing and I also cannot leave web development for it all. It would be bread earner for a long time.

First Dive

So light is out. Its rained really heavily and the light has been out for a while.
I got my Tech Demo decided! And I know what all stuff to do for it. So I think I will get on with after I finish Twin Stick Shooter, and then Race Game, and then third person shooter, and then horror game.
Or should I start the project after third person shooter? Like lets change up the plan and lets do third person after twin and then do my project. Race game won't be of much use as of now, I can focus my time on other things. Race game could be of use later? When I get onto bigger things!
So I think I really changed my plan while writing this! I will do twin stick, the third person shooter and then my project. Done. Then I'll do the horror game and go on further ahead with the rest of my schedule.

Done. Final. Twin stick shooter will take another day, and shooter tutorial will take 4 -  5 days. Then I can do My Project. I'll name it First Dive. So yeah.

Well I am enjoying the Twin Shooter. It is going great. Really.

Well light came. So should I start?

Real

Its been a long time since I did this, rather I had left doing this to be honest.
Well now I feel I should take a dip back into it, not for the sake of it, but to rather to get down with what I feel and let people know what I feel about.

So I am starting with Unreal Engine 4. This time around I am more focused than ever before, I have a plan witch which I think I'll follow, it is set out for a foreseeable amount of future.
So to begin with.
1. Get the bare basics down. Moving around in the window. How to make foilage, landscape and meshes.

2. As I know I would feel impatient and would want to get on with making games, basic ones. So I thought lets get the basic games listed in UE4 tutorials down.

3. I didn't want to leave the basics totally, I'll then do the entire basics from Virtuos Learning Hub beginners playlist. Get the general idea of things.

4. Then get down to a bit more complex things, using Shooter Tutorials get the game up and running. Its a big project and will take time.

5. Then I will start to get into the depth of the other systems in UE4. Materials, UI, AI, physics, optimization and everything pretty. Using the the documentation and if something needed to supplement it.

6. Now is when I start to lose my way. Either start making a game of my own using the free assets in the store, which no doubt is great. Or learn the 3D Asset Production Pipeline and get my own models and assets. But I believe I would have to learn a bit of the production pipeline, but the point being that is that a good time to start?

7. I love AI and gameplay. So I think now will be the time to get down and make some complex AI and nice gameplay elements. But shoukd I just make them as standalone project or incorporate into a game?

8. Depending on how 7th play out this will work. I would now want to make a full fledged game and incorporate everything that I have learned and use it.

9. Now I should iterate and keep on getting some more games out. Try to find some people to work along now!

10. Well I guess this is too much in the future to decide what will happen then.
I plan to stay on course this time and not get away from it, I can do it, just need to wait and stay committed and do whatever I have to do.

Baby Review

Indian cinema is over-clogged with action and romantic movies or both. They just realise on high budget action sequences or sizzling dance numbers. But Neeraj Pandey's Baby was I guess the only mainstream in Indian cinema that did not rely on either. It rather relied on thrill, and for a change it was great. It reminded me of Argo, butt for most of the Indian crowd it was something new and fresh.

Starring Akshay Kumar, Ranna Duggubati and Taapsee Pannu, movie followed the story of the story of secret project Baby after 26/11 which was started to stop terrorist organisation into India. Akshay was in the role of Ajay Rajput, a selfless undercover agent who would do anything for his nation. The story takes you many beautiful places. Nepal, Istanbul, Abu Dhabi and obviously India. I loved the direction of the movie. It showed the beauty of the places. The majestic deserts in Abu Dhabi or the clam ness in Nepal, the movie captured it all.

The movie had some issues, perhaps that the time did not progress same for everyone in the movie. And it borrowed a lot from Argo. But despite everything it was delivered well, acted well and directed well. It felt that Indian cinema could hope for much more in this thriller genre.
